    Found a pair of these strange old tools in my grandfather's estate but I have no idea what they're for. Steel, about 4" long with 3 leather loops for grips.

      It's called a husking peg because they were originally made with a piece of wood - the "peg" - and some leather or string. Used to help tear the leaves (husk) off an ear of corn back when it was done by hand at a "husking bee." Slip it on your hand so that your thumb tip falls under the curved point and pinch the husk between the point and thumb. Also a handy street-fighting weapon.

      Lol. Granddad wasn't much of a street fighter. Thanks so much for the explanation. I've seen a lot of tools but nothing quite like these.
