This small hanging pie safe was found in Alabama in 1981. From it's construction it looks to be from the 1870's. It is made of pine wood, and held together with hand made square nails and pegs. There is a punched tin panel on the front of the door. This allowed the pies or whatever else to cool without bugs getting inside. Inside are early American redware plates, hand carved wooden butter molds, early baskets and a hog scraper candle holder.

Very Interesting!! I just wonder How You get pies To Fit in there? I guess they would make small pies. Are the shelves wider than they look? It is A very Neat Peice!

I have a little cabinet almost excatly like this one . I do not think it was ever a wall hanging Pie Safe . Mine is a medicine cabinet and has a mirror in the door . I would say that the mirror in this one broke and someone replaced it with the punch tin . Mine also has a drawer at the bottom , that is about the only differance .
