Pair of Japanese drip glaze vases? Bottom says JAPAN in black ink. Looked handwritten. Minor chips but in great condition. Was inherited by loved one who passed. Weekend like to know more! 3D figurines on vase are beautiful

Modern ... check out Sumida Gawa pottery. People do collect it exclusively.

1900-1930 Sumida ware . Sumida Gawa reffers to low fired pottery which isn't the same thing. The vases should have a signature on the side somewhere on a little white co-touche. it will have the artist name. I have a number of different pieces in my collection. Look up the book Sumida According to us. Has lots of information gives idea of what kind of pieces were made. They had lots of different decorations on their pieces all 3d from Animals, kids, floral, gods, y?kai, sages, women, .
