I picked this vase up cheaply on Ebay here recently, and because it was close by even post was cheap. The photos weren't good and I thought there was a chance it was Japanese. Now it's here - nah, don't think so.

The blue is very un-Japanese, although beautiful with it's tinges of purple, and the glass is homogeneous with no clear case.
The diamond shape - no not seen that from anyone I know of in Japan, and the base is not ground as it should be, it has been flame finished.
It's mainly the hot working that puts me off however. Although effective the crimping is quite crude, with obvious tool marks, and large lumpy shapes. It doesn't seem Japanese at all to me.

Who did it? I don't know. I don't think it's Chinese either, so possibly Spain? Portugal? Mexico? What do you guys think?

I have less than no clue about your vase other than to say that the color is magnificent!

@olebodie - make sure you stick around. Don't let the "imitation collectors" get the best of you.

You're such a pro, Karen. You took a chance with that one and even if it didn't live up to your expectations it's still a wonderful piece. Thank you for all the info! Learning...

I suspect we've all had similar experiences, Karen, I certainly have. This at least is a gorgeous colour with unusual crimps at the base and can probably depart the way it came :)

Thanks for the love everyone for my vase - I get that the colour appeals to you all.
In light that purple tinge is more obvious and delightful.
I think it's a temporary for around here lol. I have so much glass and need to stay on song with my Japanese glass.

The colour is similar to my centre piece bowl I have, if you have a look at my posts. I have no idea where its from either!

I do not know either, but the color is like a blue and purple - the way the lights hits it !!

Geez Eileen, you must be scrolling through old posts today. That's great, I often do the same.
It's a beautiful vase even if I still don't know who.
      Thanks for the re-love.

Thanks Kevin, it's a good piece.
      I still doubt it's Japanese.
