This is a beautiful Japanese doll (about 19 inches tall) in a glass case. It is an inherited item, but I know nothing about it. Can anyone tell me anything about this doll?

i saw one like her, but she has different Kimono... but the face and the hair are desame... i will post it soon... :)

My son-in-law sent me one 20 yrs. ago when he was stationed in Japan. The only difference is that my has a yellow design under garmet & a piece of wood next to the doll with Japanese writing on it. It also has the Japanese writing on the botton as the exact same as yours. I have wondered about this also. We don't know what the lettering is. If you have found out anything about this, plese let me know.
