Passed down to us from my grandparents and we'd love to know more about the age and value for insurance purposes. Model 2869-6 can clearly be read on the manufacturer's mark under the seat. Despite this info, I haven't been able to find out anything more about the chair.

Lots of information online about the Company. They were in business from 1891 until the Great Depression put them out of business completely in 1935.

Your style of chair was very popular in the 1890s- 1910s time period. Online searches may yield some dating information about specific chair models (number on bottom).

Your chair would seem to have huge sentimental value but a limited $ value.

I hope that you and many more generations enjoy your family chair!

Should have added: your chair is oak.

Thanks Scott! The type of wood is one of my first thoughts, I'm glad you mentioned that.

Also just wanted to say how lucky you are Randybrownsd that you are able to actually have the ID still on the chair. So many have been removed and near impossible to id. Great chair. Personally, I have always found that chairs, especially single ones, fetch a very good price but I don't think I would spend the money to have it appraised for insurance myself. just sayin'

Thank you for the help. I wasn't sure if it was something we could use as normal furniture, or if 'preserving' it was appropriate. We plan to enjoy it for a long time.

Great looking piece. Although I would tend to not age it in the earlier years, more the later years.
