Cyma is a swiss watchmaker founded in 1862 that by 1929 produced 4000 watches daily, selling them all over the world. They're still in business.

This promotional inkwell has a lid in the format of a pocket watch, a removable ink container and a base written in Portuguese "Relogio Cyma" (Cyma Watch) and "Sem Igual" (Nothing Like It). Third picture shows the bottom marked with a fleur de lis and the letters "PH" or "PIT" or "PII". I couldn't find a maker based on these marks. Maybe someone could help.

Last pic is a 1920's poster by spanish artist Emilio Vilá.

This brings back memories of all the desks where I went to school having an ink well recessed into the top. They were certainly messy if you didn't have a good pen.

Passed by this a few days ago, did not know it was yours and missed it. It sure has the branding well done on the pocket watch, just love this now that I see it is an inkwell. I bet the executives at the company used them. Love the art too. Superb find, its almost as if you methodically think before purchasing treasures like this !

Hello Phil...I thought you were ignoring me LOL. It's a little beauty isn't it? As you may know, it isn't easy to find things like these here in Brazil. There wasn't as many companies as in the U.S. at that time, most of the products were imported (and still are, as our industry is almost inexistent) and the markets were restricted to a few major cities. That said, I never miss the opportunity to grab everything that has the right design and age.

That may explain why these items are noticed by you. The condition is exemplar down to the small ink well !
