Nice find. You have a windmill weight. Many were made in the shape of animals such as your rooster, cows, horses, bulls, and letters etc. These were used to counterbalance the weight of the windmill's wheel. These weights are popular enough that reproductions are being made. Since you found it in a grove, there was probably a windmill there at some time. Prices vary on the size, weight, and the subject. They can sell for several thousand dollars.
