The thrift store failed to sell it at the price they were asking, reduced it quite a bit, and took it out of the display case (display cases, in my opinion, make it harder to sell an item).
As such, I picked up the glass-encased tinted German photograph of a little girl that somehow advertises Cold Storage Market in Plant City, Florida, U.S.A.-- upon which I can find no references to?
Anyone know anything on the company? I'm guessing it's mostly dairy-related, pre-WW1?
What is the size of the photo of the pretty little Miss ? Was it framed, or did you frame it? How very sweet she is. A ray of sunshine forever.

I'm not around at the moment, but I'd estimate around a foot by 9 inches, from memory? You can see a steel thumb tack in the background of photo three for comparison. lol.

This is lovely, SpiritBear. I recently came across a plate painted with roses and similar sentiment, I assume it was a giveaway promo to a loyal customer, c.30s. I hope you can find out more about the photograph.
Most seem to date prior to 1930, in terms of advertising plates.
I'm only interested in the history of the company that the piece advertises. While little girls have very little to do with cold storage, the piece was meant to be something one would keep and display, thus advertising their product.
The photograph is your typical high-quality German photograph popular in the early 1900s. I have many similar postcards.

Also, years ago we used to have LOCKER PLANT in the town also known as a Butcher shop were they cut, and packaged up your meat that you brought in from the farm ( I worked there for a while )......
so is a Cold storage also a Locker plant too ??
It should just be a refrigeration plant.
I grew up in Plant City 60s. I remember a Sea Board Cold Storage, but I was young. Railroad possibly, Plant City was founded by a big Railroad guy, Henry Plant.
Hopefully gives you a place to start!
I live close by also and Plant City is home to the annual strawberry fest, which just ended. Might be something in the history of the strawberry fest. It is a huge event and would certainly need cold storage as well as the citrus farmers there. Pretty little town between Tampa and Orlando. I will poke around on some of my local links and perhaps if that fails I will contact a local newspaper and see if their archives have any information.

Cold Storage Market was a meat market in Plant City, FL in the late 1930's and early 1940's. Not sure when it closed. It was on the north side of Reynolds St. between Collins and Palmer Streets. They had sawdust on the floor.
