Charcoal straw with a velvet ribbon band, this style hat defined the late 40s New Look. Always chic and a charming way to keep the sun off your shoulders. Evelyn Varon hats are among the most charming.

I had a wonderful hat from the New York Millinery company in Buffalo back in my time. I bought it and used it for my photo shoots. I dread the day I traded it in for a few bucks. It was in perfect condition, not many hats can say that. It was rather similar to your hat. Here is a link to a view:http://philmorris.aminus3.com/image/2010-12-07.html
Greetings PDAM: Gorgeous. Who knows, one of the days it may well turn up on the auction circuit. Now that I've seen it, I'll keep an eye. Thanks for sharing that beautiful photo. DD@Phila
