This painted metal box was given to me over ten years ago by someone who picked it up at a yard sale. It has a strap on its front and back and looks like it used to buckle on top, but the buckle is missing. The inside is painted red as well. What is it? Does it really have anything to do with ham or are those someone's initials?

I'm thinking initials, and also theatrical performer, possibly Circus. The style of lettering was popular around 1900. If it was a persons initials, the letters would be "interlocked"...this looks more like a Company logo.
Nice item.
