I purchased this vase this past weekend at the thrift store. This is a very old vase that is made of a very thick faceted glass. On the front of the glass is etched a butterfly and some flowers. I do not know who made this vase but on the bottom there are some numbers and may be a couple letters. This vase is shown with some of the glass flowers that I found this past weekend

It's Orrefors. The first two letters are 'of' (Orrefors), the next letter is P (for designer Sven Palqvist) and the numbers (2683) date the piece to the early 1940's. Very pretty!

Very pretty vase! The 2683 is a style number - this vase first appeared in Catalog 17, published in 1944. That means Palmqvist designed the vase between 1941 and 1944. The D5 is a date code - yours was made in 1966. (A1 is 1935, and the count uses only digits 1-9.) I believe that the 131 has to do with reissuing the style, but I haven't quite figured that part out yet. Enjoy it!
