Rocky probably was not the result of a traffic accident but is rather flattened with an intact skull. Also the lower leg bones and feet are preserved in the skin. It is an interesting piece of taxidermy as it was mummified. A professional taxidermist would have boilded the skul and put in the fake eyes etc.
On another note I often see cutesy taxidermy with raccoons. Knowing that it is an actual dead animal and that just does not work for me. This one is definitely not cute.
Rocky is 35" long and will take up a lot of wall space. I shall think carefully on how to display him.
My aunt does taxidermy. This poor guys face is a lil creepy. . He don't seem happy lol.. but cool he has his real skull, that is neat.

Poor Rocky! At least he found a forever home with you. Get him his own stuffed chair and drape him over the top. :-))))
Those things can be real mean when caught in a trap. Saw somebody get to close once. OU !
When I was a about 17 I was walking home from a party about 3 in the morning, about 3 sheets to the wind and as I got Close to home I saw a street sweeper and a cop car with its lights on ...So I walked their way to see what was going on and the cop was pulling his gun out to shoot a rocky because the sweeper hit it and it was broken up a little and out cold ....lol So I says to the cop you aren't going to shoot it are you,, he say keep moving ...lol
I said let me take it to the vet up the hill ...The guy on the sweeper and cop said the vet wont help him, I said let me try ...I said to the cop I'll rap it up in my shirt and put it in your trunk and you can drop us off ...they both laugh and then the cop said why not...
SO there I am 3 in the morning ring the door bell with a 40 pound rocky and half in the bag...lol Then the porch light go's on and its the Vets wife she says the doctor is sleeping I said I have help this little fella and I cant take No...About that time the door opens a little wider and I see the doctor coming tord the door He say what you have there ?..I said a coon ...lol his eyes blew open wide and looked at me and said really you have a raccoon raped up in your shirt ..I smiled ..
He said go in the room to the let I'll be right in ..well he came in and gave it a shot I said whats that for ..he smiled and said so it don't wake up //.. This thing can do some real damage to someone and it ain't going to be me ...Then we sat there for 10 mins before he would start to look him over...He said its jaw looks to be broken and his front leg and the best thing to do is put it down ...I said what plan B...Then he told me how much risk I was going to face if try to save it ..I say let me try ...ok he said, So raped the leg up a said as far as the jaw I'll have to feed it eggs and raw hamburger till he can eat it himself and when he can start to eat by its self,..!!!! set him free ...and I did set him free in a crematory he try to follow me but I lost him my old man wasn't to thrill about it all but hay I saved a rocky ...... Night...

Great video. Seems like they would make good pets but I hear there are issues.
Friends who had one said that it would take forever crossing a hardwood floor because it had to pick every bit of dirt etc. out of the cracks.
A country boy found me while I was running my line & had one in a trap. I was going to shoot it but the youth said he could get us good money for him from some people who trained coon dawgs. He took off his new winter coat & dove on the coon trying to hold it with the coat. What happened next was a blur. Now the coon has his new down jacket, hissing & pulling the down out of it while the kid was yelling, "Shoot him, shoot him!".
An interesting and opposite tale bb2. Remind me not to try and catch one.
