This is a bread baking tile made in the 1970's by The Carmel Kiln Company of Carmel by the Sea, California. Over the years they have become very collectable, not just for baking, but for hanging on the wall, or as yard art hanging on a fence. The company claims that cooking with their tile, gives an even flow of heat and a perfectly golden brown crust to your bread, as when baking in a stone oven! :^)
The tile is 15" long x 12" wide with a 3/4" lip on the end, for easy removal from the oven, and has a hole in the center of the other end for hanging it up.
When ever I find these tiles, I buy them if it's a good price, because they have a nice rustic look, made in California, and a good conversation piece, people can't figure out how you play the game! :^D
I have a link to one for sell, that has a lot more information, that I'll post on comments.
Thank you for looking, and always all comments, and questions welcome! :^)

You're right Thomas, that color is not by accident, it's suppose to look like the crust on your freshly baked bread! :^) Thanks for your comment!

You have reminded me of cooking in those 2-300 yr. old stone ovens on St. Eustatius. 7 Families rotated cooking bread so that we had fresh stone oven bread every day.
