Kamei Osaka was an important company in the Japanese glass scene, primarily as a wholesaler and distributor of glass manufactured by a variety of different companies. The company went bankrupt around 2000 as a result of it's attempts to reproduce Satsuma Kiriko glass, an expensive proposition that did not succeed.

This vase looks to me like it has been made by Tsugaru for Kamei, although by this stage the distributor was spelling it's name as Kamay in Romanji.

It's an unusual shape for Japanese glass, being quite wide for height, although the foot and lip shape are very Japanese.
The reason I think it may be Tsugaru Glass is because of the spatter and streak style, and the glass is very thin walled, but that is a guess, not fact.
Like much late century Japanese art glass it has been sand blasted for a satin finish.
It's very pretty, particularly with that all white foot.

    Height: 26cm
