I just found a tiny clear glass medicine bottle while tilling up a garden bed in my 1886 historical victorian house in Cincinnati, OH. I did a little research on this bottle and from what I can gather it was made right around the time the house I live in was built. Does anyone have any insite or can tell me anything about this bottle? I'd never seen these before until I found it so I really know nothing about it.
On the front it says "Gilmore's Liver Pills, Gilmore & Co, Cincinnati".
Looks correct for the 1880s-1910 period.
I would agree with SpiritBear. Looks like it probably had a cork stopper. I have one the same except the bottom of mine has no flat spot on the bottom, it is round/oval and has a tin screw on top. Mine still has aspirin in it and what is left of a paper label from an apothecary in Peterborough, NH. I was able to track mine down to 1910 to 1915 based on the apothecary closing date. Corks were used before the tin screw on so that should date yours before mine. I don't collect glass anymore but kept the bottle because it is odd.
