The Emutaka Company started business in Tokyo in 1934, and since then they have been producing tableware made from glass, stainless steel and wood.

They appear to have originally focused on restaurant needs, supplying items such as soy sauce bottles , trays, and condiment sets.
From around the 1960s they started producing items also for the home, and this ice bucket from the 1970s is an example of what they produced and exported.

I haven't seen a lot of Mtaka ware in Australia and all has been from this period. They seem to only sell domestically now, and their current products are a stylish blend of glass and stainless steel, with occasional wooden parts, like lids. Looks like nice stuff.

This ice bucket is quite petite at 14cms, with it's blow moulded glass body and stainless trim, handle, tongs and grate. I have seen these buckets also in amber, and once owned a really neat round Mtaka canister in deep red.

Having a thing for tableware in glass I love this.....it has style but practicality too. I notice it has an insert to separate the ice and the melt. It would look good with the plates and glasses of your previous post, particularly on white.

It would, wouldn't it Peggy! Great artists eye you have there.
It would all be quite matched in scale as well.
I have to say the Japanese really have made some great glass tableware, and still do. Of course, the newer stuff is pretty pricey compared to when this was sold.
      Thanks for the idea!
