I was reading the classifieds a number of years ago when I came across an unususal yardsale ad. Yard tools, wheelbarrow, 10 ft dish (remember those monsters?), 6 ft marble statue... Whoa ! What was that ? So, of course I had to check it out.

It turns out that a builder had purchased a piece of property with a house on it and this statue was outside. He moved the house and built several others on the property then needed to get rid of the statue. I went out to look at it but it was waaay out of my league. End of story , I left. Nearly a year later, he calls me and said he "has" to move it, am I still interested? Well, we came to terms.

The sculptor is North Carolina artist Be Gardiner. I wrote him. You can see my letter and then his response. Now, I have a titled piece and I am very pleased with it.

I just added a new picture

Thanks Savoychina1 for your comments about my sculpture "Madonna and child." I loved your sculpture as well. The stone alone would have cost about $3.600.00 minimum. One month of carving plus the creative work that the sculptor put into it is a great asset. The title “Hyacinths” is wonderful in itself. Congratulations to you!
