I bought this bottle opener at a yard sale. It came with about 100 swizzle sticks and other bar items. Last week I was looking at bottle openers on E- Bay, when I spotted this one. The seller said the handle was Bakelite, so I had this bottle of Turtle Wax that I tried on it and low and behold the cotton swab turned a yellowish brown, indicating Bakelite.

I restart or just close and reopen the browser and that seems to work. Sometimes it seems to have phantom photos that are uploaded in a post in which case I delete the post and start over.
Also a verge large photo file may make it difficult to upload photos.

I tested a bottle opener handle with this cotton swab and the polish shown here. As you can see the swab turned a yellowish brown, indicating Bakelite. I also ran hot water over it and then gave it a whiff, Ooh did it stink. Now I know about Bakelite. The polish cost only 1.99, at the drug store, much cheaper than the alternative and easier to get.
