Found this at the end of a driveway today. I am wondering if I should paint this for myself with a British Flag design or restore it as near to its original state as I can.

    It measures 40 x 26 x 24 (roughly)
The only markings I have found are on the lock :
Stamford Connecticut The Yale Towne & Mfg Co

It has a tray on the bottom with handles and a top compartment with leather stud fastners.

Many Thanks in advance for any information or advice :)

It looks fine as is to me. This one has the inserts which is not common. Maybe some leather conditioning.

Fine steel wool will clean up the lock nicely,,, the rusty latches can be treated with gun oil after some steel-wooling -- great thing about this trunk is you can do what you like with it... I like the British flag idea myself...

This trunk is typical of "the Royal line " Seward trunk and bag.
