After Mom passed in March of this year, I inherited all of hers and her Mother's jewelry. There is a bit of fine jewelry, albeit, inexpensive fine jewelry but more fascinating is the large amount of costume jewelry. 90% of the costume jewelry belonged to my Grandmother.

My grandmother was born in early 1900's, so jewelry would have been accumulated to my way of thinking from 30's to 70's (late). She died in early 80's. She seemed to LOVE brooches, Canadian Maple leaves, etc.

These ivory? earrings though I think belonged to my Mom. I know she had some ivory pieces from Alaska and my Dad spent time in Greenland (Air Force) but I have no idea what time period these might have been from and am now questioning if they are actually ivory or not....

Can't tell you anything from that photo - need up close, clear photos of the earrings out of the box. Back as well as front. You can edit your post and add up to four photos.

Effesgirl is right, close-up and sharp pics will help for identifying the material.

If ivory, not elephant's but walrus tusk or moose bone

I totally understand that better pics will help. I just started on a new medicine about a month ago which is causing some vision issues even when I use my glasses. It is a known side effect so I'm trying to figure out with my doctor what I'll be doing.

The sad thing is the pics I posted are some of the best I could manage to get. I've asked my family for help in taking the pics but so far, no volunteers. I will switch to using a white background, for the pieces that works with.

This is a total learning process at this point. I've deleted other pics/posts that were not up to snuff.

      Kyratango,

Thanks for the identification...and yes, it's most likely walrus (not elephant)...perhaps Moose but I now recall from family discussion that they were thought to be from Walrus?

      Thanks again,

      KR
