I picked this up at a garage sale yesterday and want to retore it but dont know what year it is or what type of schwinn it is. The serial number I see (By the Left Rear Axle Mount) is L14345

It was made in december of 1961
when the serial numbers are by the rear axel the bike is from the 50 to 58 most of the time .IS THE KICK STAND FIXED TO THE BIKE.
that isnt true they made bikes with the serial # on the rear axle into the 70s I have a tiger from 62 and the serial 3 is on the rear axle
Sometimes you can still read the model on the chainguard. The checkerboard decal on the seat tube make me think it's an 'American' though.
