    PoliticalP…
    (180 items)

Decided to jump back in time to some of the earliest celluloid buttons they are simply a metal disc with a image on paper and covered in a Mylar type plastic compared to a Lithograph button that has the image printed right onto the metal with no protective cover they are easy to damage because of that a older mint condition Litho can bring good money.
The very first celluloid button's were made in 1893 and by 1896 they dominated political items, Most political items before that were metal mostly coins or fobs, cloth/silk mainly ribbons or paper.

1st scan is of four 1896 and 1900 William McKinley and William McKinley - Theodore Roosevelt Jugate buttons 1 11/16,, 1 1/2 with boarder and two 7/8 diameter. (Jugate = Side by side portraits)

2nd is a close up of one of the 7/8 buttons from scan one

    3rd is a 1904 First Voters Club 15/16, a 1906 Stuart, 1908 T.R. 5/8 and one memorial from 1909 for Theodore Roosevelt 7/8 diameter.

4th is what's called a "coattail" button from 1906 with Edwin Stuart for Governor of Pennsylvania On the "coattail" of Pres.Theodore Roosevelt in his Rough Rider Uniform 7/8 diameter.

William McKinley born 1/29/1843 was our 25th President from March 4, 1897 to September 14, 1901 He was the last President to have served in the Civil War, His Vice President was Garret Hobart from 1897 to 1899 then had no V.P. until March 4, 1901, He was shot Sept. 6, 1901 at the Pan-American Exhibition in Buffalo NY and died from his wound on Sept 14, 1901

Theodore Roosevelt born 10/27/1858 was our 26th President from Sept. 14, 1901 to March 4, 1909 He became President the day McKinley was assassinated and at age 42 (+322 days) was and still is the youngest to hold the office,
(JFK was the youngest elected at 42 but was 43 when sworn in) He had no Vice President from 1901 to 1905 then Charles Fairbanks was V.P. from 1905 to 1909, When T.R. failed to win the Republican nomination in 1912 he walked out and formed the Progressive Party (so called "Bull Moose party") most believe the fractured Rep. party allowed Woodrow Wilson to win the Presidency, T.R. died Jan. 6, 1919

    (side note)
Donald Trump is the oldest President when sworn in at age 70 years 220 days.
Ronald Reagan was our oldest president in office at age 77 years 349 days
