    mareredware
    (177 items)

This is my great grandfather, Louis Marchand. He came here from France as a young boy. I am very pleased to own this very old portrait. The frame and the newspaper backing are very old so I take extra care when dusting it off. I added a small plaque with his name and dates of birth and death. 1854-1926.

I love this! So happy for you that you have this in your possession. So many times wonderful family treasures like this end up in thrift stores or, even worse, the trash.

It amazes me and saddens me when I find photographs and other personal things at thrift stores. I hate to think relatives have given them up so I tell myself that all the relatives are gone and the item will find a new family.I've already promised this portrait along with Pop Louie's desk to my daughter and she is pleased.
