    this is the original prototype of the gameboard battleship it has all the provinance 1958 sighed dated notorized rejection letters from milton bradley and parker brothers search letter to request a copywrite pictures taken and the gameboard itself

      i purchased it from a gentleman who bought a bunch of sell out stock from an elderly man going out of business, it is in my possession still

      Thanks for the reply, terryleon. So - any hint of the result of the patent search? "Battleship" ranks quite high on my personal list of 'best all-time board games'. If this represents some of the actual origins, I am surely not alone in wishing the collecrtion to be properly archived.
