Looking for thoughts on this Shaker? Rocker. Age? Where it might have been made. I don't see any markings on it. The seat is only 14 inches off the floor. The widest part of the seat is about 22". It is very light weight. It has been in my family for at least 4 generations. My dad got it from his aunt who was born about 1875. Her grandparents were born in Pennsylvania in the early 1800s. In 1845 they came to Oregon over the Oregon trail.

Should I have the seat repaired or leave it as is? Will definitely enjoy just looking at it and now sitting in it. Thanks for any help.

In looking at the way your chair is put together I would call it a Shaker "STYLE" chair as opposed to being an actual Shaker chair. The style is right but the construction is wrong. That doesn't mean it wasn't made by a Shaker. Many of them launched out on their own and made changes to design and started their own business. Most failed.
