Found in walks of an old house. It slides up and down.bsays Patten applied for on hands. One tip is pointed and one tip is flat. Wooden handles.

It's a rug-hooking tool. The non-moving side of the tool is held against the BACK side of the rug's backing material (held in a frame). Yarn comes down through the big eyelet and passes through the needle attached to the moving side of the tool. The needle is pushed through the backing and withdrawn (by sliding the movable handle) leaving a loop of yarn on what will be the top side of the rug. The size of the loop is determined by adjusting the foot on the non-moving side of the tool. Repeat about a million times and you have a rug. Or just go to Carpet Mart.
