Clearly this was made in someone's school ceramics class sometime in the 1970s. ORIGINAL Ecology Now Symbol! It's made of red clay, incised on the back M. A and T.W (??)

I was there in the original Ecology movement - I turned 10 in Dec. 1970, and I remember it well. Along with Save The Whales after the first Whale Songs LP Record was released! GIVE A HOOT, DON'T POLLUTE!

(Can you BELIEVE we have to do it all over again in 2017?!?!)

    From the web:

"The green movement went by the name of Ecology in the 1970s and it had its own flag. The Ecology symbol, an “e” (environment) with an overlaid “o” (organism), was designed by Ron Cobb, who published it on November 7, 1969, in the Los Angeles Free Press, then placed it in the public domain. Look magazine combined Cobb’s ecology symbol with a green American flag to use in its Earth Day issue of 21 April 1970."

This is really a cool piece! I was 7 years old in 1970. I remember the posters and commercials for the "Give A Hoot, Don't Pollute" campaign very well.

Thank you! Maybe we should revive it, and wake up all us old (young) hippies! I don't think anyone our age doesn't recognize this!

WE were to have fixed all the worlds wrongs by now or that was the consensus yet here we are 47 years later we did make progress with pollution The Native American with a tear by the river helped us change that, we stopped burning so much coal until this year with a certain Presidents "clean clean coal" BS but our air and water is better then what it was however if WE stop fighting mother earth will suffer again so in short lol YES revive! resist!! and replace!!! (those unwilling to work FOR us)
