I don't remember where I got this. I don't know anything about it other than it's a German medallion. Has anyone ever seen this? Does anyone know anything about it? The color is obviously gold and passed the magnet test, but that doesn't verify that it's gold. Where would this have come from? I also understand from a German born friend that it is from the state of Pfalz and that it says "Between wine and forest - old culture" and is obviously a German state coin of some kind, but what is the reason this medallion would have been produced? There is nothing anywhere on the internet that has any information about it. Anyone? My curiosity is driving me nuts.

Oh, and it's about the size of an American silver dollar.
