I have this great brooch and it only has 1 marking of 750 but no other indications of any sort. Does anyone know anything about Italian jewllery here? Ive searched and searched but cant find anything??

750 = 18K gold. . There are a number of countries (including my own, The Netherlands) which use 750 as the purity mark for 18K. Where did you get this fabulous brooch?

A clear photo of the back would be helpful. You can edit your post and add more photos.

It was my husbands grandmothers and she was Italian, I have more pics. Ive been told that the rubys and diamonds are natural and "old cut" there arent any other markings - I know its 18k. Was wondering more about age

It has 45 tiny rubys and 30 diamonds, the largest is about 3mm across

Although Italy had well established hallmarking and registration system the makers often avoided it. Why is the needle showing different color, as well as parts of the brooch at the top ? Or just light reflection.

There is no way to know where it was made with only a 750 mark. If the needle is also gold then it should have a 750 stamp on it. Because 18K gold is soft, the needle may not be gold due to the possibility of damage. I would date it around the mid-century mark or perhaps a bit later.

there is some light reflection but it was previously in a box for a very long time, its very yellow and has some slight pinkish tarnish marks in the top , Ive been told that its hand cast and set also

Efes, I think its older than that but maybe not. the pin is kind of soft.

Is that a heart I see stamped into the gold, on the right hand side almost at the very edge?
    11. Amber108, 7 years ago
no, its discolouration, almost looks like some solder that was never polished off

I can't weigh in on the marks, but love your husband's grandmother for having this beautiful & amusing brooch of a European porcupine. Maybe this link also gives a clue to country of origin?
