I have an unusual lamp that its very hard to date. Any help would be appreciated. It weights 6kg. Complete height from bottom to top of chimney is 73cm. Base is 33cm H. 22 cm wide. Font and burner is 20cm H. 16cm W. It is brass and copper. Inserts depicting the four seasons are copper and 15 cm H. On the back of one of the discs holding the cherubs is RD No 99435. I have not seen another like it. I bought it at a local auction, yep and probably paid far to much, but there was just something about it,I have the original white shade that came with it identical in pattern to the Cranberry one. Thankyou for letting me share my find.

Looks like the patent date are 1884 & 1893? we might be able to find it with that but if you can find a patent number on it then it can be found easy (type any patent No. into google and it will pop up) Great lamp, welcome to CW Gags

Not sure if base is original to lamp or added later. Whatever, it is a beauty. I used to sell all the books on coal oil lamps that were written and got most from the author instead of the distributer. She was so nice. Catherine Thuro was her name. Unfortunately the prices in the old books are high and in reality have gone down quite a lot for most, as now they are unpopular and youner people have no interest in them.

Pretty sure base has been added lately, not original to lamp as none in any book is like this. Also this one just seems to sit on the brass square. It is very nice as it is however.

Thank you for all the help ,I took the lamp apart and found on the bottom of the font. English Manufactured Lamp. Belge Patent no 11285. 1884. The base has always been apart of the lamp as did speak to the owner.

Where did you find the lamp? (country)

That No. and date show it granted to Lempereur and Bernard of Liege, Belgium for an invention of improvements in lamps known as the "Lamp Belge"
