Hello I have just found what I think might have been a pair of lovely stone drop earrings but I have not seen this kind of stone before so hoping for help with a name for it.

I'm not quite sure from photos: are the stones translucent, allowing light through easily, or (semi-)opaque, allowing little or no light to pass through?
My first thought was garnet, but think not. While many of your other gemstone drops look to me like genuine semiprecious stones, these beads look like glass or ceramic to me. However, there is a crudeness to them than may mean old & hand made rather than machine manufacture. :)
Thanks cameo yeah I wasn't thinking hand made also, opaque for sure, these had me confused, I am sure they are stone but not seen the colour before, found one then found the second later, again I am guessing they once had gold and have been stripped.
