This desk came from my husband's grandfather who is a collector. I can't find any information on the etched numbers on the back. I don't see any other markings other than some faded chalk underneath. I think it's French. Does anyone have any idea what that number could represent? I would appreciate it!

Possibly up to the 1960's and seems reasonably made with no style distinction other than traditional. With the hundreds of furniture makers here in Canada, alone, and more in the states, which seemed to die down during the 50's and especially into the 1970's, it makes it impossible to attribute the piece to any one maker.
