Were you at this game? July 4th memory from the past. The score board shows 1:57 PM. Game hasn't started yet. I really like this moment in time. The Yankees played a doubleheader against the Washington Senators. Yankees lost the first game 10 - 6 and won the second game 7 - 0. Mickey Mantle at the plate. The slides come from an estate and show 2 of the 3 slides taken at the game.

I was there. That was my first year at Yankee Stadium, my first game being on 25 April, the Yankees lost to the Orioles 3-1. On that 4th of July vs the Senators, the Yankees raised the 49 star flag for the first time, commemorating the admission of Alaska into the Union. That is something I will never forget. It was impressive for a 10 year old boy. It was there the following July 4th to see the new 50 star flag raised to commemorate the admission of Hawaii into the Union. That was impressive as well.
Vinny -- Wow -- So glad I could bring back this memory for you with a picture. Part of the middle slide (not shown) shows the players standing at attention. Maybe the Yankees were raising the 49 star flag at that time.
