Can anyone help me identify this marking? It is a stick pin of a half horse and half man shooting an arrow.

Half man half horse (centaur) stick pin. Looks to have a gold tone over top of the sterling. I'm assuming it is sterling because it is marked ster. I cannot identify the signed marking. It looks like maybe a JR, but I can't match nothing up to it. I think it is very old. maybe 40's or earlier.

Could it be a Zodiak piece?
  2. davyd286, 10 months, 26 days ago
    I mean, Zodiac sign.

    Perhaps JRC, CRJ etc.

Thank you for letting me know it was a Zodiak sign (Sagittarius) I did not know that. Now the unsolved mystery is just the signature of the piece. It does seem to look like a JR something but still cannot find a match.

Does the front have a stone on it?

Hi again. One of the best silver sites I know of: http://www.silverresearch.org/
It has most of the internet resources on silver. Good luck!

@Cindyjune -The front does not have a stone. The entire thing is just sterling with a gold tone.
That is another question, if it is sterling why does it look gold?
@Vetraio50, I will check that site out. Thank you! : )

Hi. It may just be the early stages of tarnish. Do you have a silver cloth? I don't like cleaning with those abrasive solutions.

I agree with Vetraio50 as tarnish.

It is also possible that it is Vermeil, gold wash over sterling.
