This is a circa 1931 Hammond Carriage Calendar Electric Clock, the "Avondale" in a high art deco style. It has a shiny walnut bakelite case with no cracks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. The cord needs replacing.

There were two models of this clock made:
Black Bakelite with a silver/black face silver feet and finial (rare).
Walnut with a gold/brown face, gold feet and finial (pictured above).

The clock runs well, smoothly and keeps an accurate time. The calendar also works well. This clock has the bichronous movement which will run for up to 30 minutes during a power interruption (I haven't tested this feature yet). Making it the first battery back up clock of sort, which also explains it's weight (the clock is heavier than the other Hammond Day/Date clocks). Like the "Gregory" this one has a closed rotor.

This is a spin-to-start clock – it requires rotating the knob (at the back) to start. It stands approximately 7-7/8” tall, 4-7/8” wide and 3-7/8” depth. The dial face and crystal look great.

Yet another of Mr. Hammond's day and date clock.

Beautiful clock!...I love Hammond clocks, in general, and this clock in particular.
    Congratulations!
