Dad is 91 and has recently given me his Seiko Liquid Crystal watch. Mum & Dad went to Japan in 1970. My mother told me that she paid $120 ( or was it $200 ) for it. I think it was attempt at being thoroughly modern. I know Dad wore it for a while before tiring of it. It was then returned to its box and was forgotten about.
I have been looking for information about it but have met a brick wall.
On the warranty form is the watch number: 900910.
They puchased it on December 15 1970 from a shop "S.H. & Co".
On the round face is Seiko Quartz LC.
From what I have read, 1970 is pretty early for Liquid Crystal watches.
I'd appreciate any help that you might give me on this watch.

Many thanks Jurgennicklisch!
That's an old LC watch, I don't know if I've every seen one this old. The serial # on the sales slip date it to Oct. 1969. Does the number on the back of the watch match the sales slip? Again Nice Seiko watch, thanks for sharing.
Hi Kerry. On the back of the watch there is :
Seiko / 550394 / a n 's' symbol
beneath around the edge is :
Stainless steel 0114-0010-6 Japan-M.
900 910 on the sales receipt within the booklet
Can you explain it for me?
I'm a bit confused that they don't match.
Is it possible that your father might have another Seiko watch some where? I've never seen a LCD watch before the mid 1970's, not to say this one is not.
This serial # dates to May of 1975 and it was the 394th one made, I'll do some research and see if I can find out something more on this watch.
Hi Kerry, thanks for the interest.
I can't ask him ... Alzheimer's.
I'll check with my Mum.
It's as I got it from her some months ago.
Thanks to AR8Jason as well!
Well went straight to Seiko and the first LCD watch was made in 1973, check around. You'll probably find another watch, maybe not in a box but in a drawer or something. There is a possiblity you'll find the very first marketed Quartz movement, Seiko made that one in 1969. Sorry didn't help you out much, but here's the Seiko home site link.
