I think I found this at a yard sale for around $2.00.
Holds 1 pint, wide mouth, Word Special below Ball.
Number 5 on bottom.
Even though it has a crack at one of the side seams, I love it!
Can anyone tell me anything about this jar?
Thank you.

Hello, I looks like a half pint from the picture. My friend sold one at auction last month in Princeton, Indiana. It brought $50.00. You did well my friend.

It is a squatty wide mouth pint Rachel, unusual, I love it!
I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF BALL JARS OVER THE YEARS, BUT NOT LIKE YOURS.
That Ball logo type was used from 1910-1923. The 5 on the bottom is merely the mold number. These jars were made on an Owens-Illinois Glass mold machine. The blue color of the glass was from the type of sand used for their early jars. The sand came from a dune in Michigan City, Indiana. Many people think it was a dye added to the glass, but it was not.
love this - a Baby Ball!
