AR8Jason’s wonderful convention badge posting and history lesson on Thomas E. Dewey today inspired me to post my own Dewey Memorabilia. On October 18, 1948, Republican Presidential candidate Thomas E. Dewey made a whistle stop appearance at the Hammond, IN, freight yards. From left to right, Security man, Mrs. Dewey, Governor Thomas E. Dewey, and First District GOP congressional nominee Theodore L. Sendak. (picture by Stuart R. Thomas, photographers). Like Dewey for the presidency, my father-in-law was also unsuccessful in his bid for congress. Gov. Dewey wrote my father-in-law a kind letter which included a “pep talk.” My husband acquired the photo and signed letter from his late father.
