My grandfather gave these to me a while back. I've always enjoyed them and didn't know much about them until recently when I started researching them. My grandfather told me the c96 came from an abandoned German Sub they found, and not sure where the knife originated from. I've posted these on a few military sites and no one has seen this holster before, and suggested it wasn't what originally came with the gun. Let me know if anyone has any info on these, I'm all ears. thanks,

A broomhandle pistol, so cool. I've always wanted one of those. And unless I'm mistaken, that is a Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife. I've always wanted one of those also. Great items.

Hey ,nice gun ! I have seen that gun with a wooden holster that doubled as a stock so gun could be shoulder fired when needed . I was told they were sometimes issued semi and fully automatic with a selector switch to choose between the two so you might want to check before you load it up to shoot tincans ! also they are quite valuable in any form . Hope this helps , Jack

I would like to shoot it one day! It appears to be in pretty good condition, and he still has riffling in the barrel. I like that the knife still has the etching in the blade, i haven't seen very many that still have that.

It's a genuine Wilkerson Sword Second Type Fairbairn-Sykes knife. Another person told me "These checkered brass handle Wilkerson knives were WWII issue to Commandos, and sold to allied troops in England. The Second type was made in the earlier war period, since brass was a critical item and they soon changed the handle to a cast pot metal with grooves."

Glad you all like. I just added the bayonet as well. This makes up all the WWII weapons I have.

Does the bayonet serial number match with the serial number on the scabbard?
    7. sparrow75, 13 years ago
unfortunately, no. Both have 41 cof (forgot what that means) but the serial numbers are: knife (8673 K) scabbard (8050)

One with matching serial numbers just sold on ebay for almost $600

Mauser C96 - GREAT gun! Even cooler that it was a WW2 used relic! Take good care of it.

I've had the broomhandle with shoulder stock & is an awesome weapon. 10 shot mag left a lot to be desired but could do the job. I think it was Star that made models with larger capacity detachable mags. had the MP-18, MP-28, MkII, Reising, & M3 (grease-gun) & this will do almost as good a job with a shorter weapon. Problem was holding it down as it recoils a lot because of the light weight. Of course, if U r good, U can still control your shots.
The Fairbairn-Sykes is really nice with varying prices now. Having the orig. sheath is a real plus.
The mauser bayonette I'm not even looking at as they r so common.
      Really nice collection you have.
