      Strychnine was used for central nervous system stimulation in a variety of ailments but little, if any, therapeutic merit.
      That's from my pocket medical dictionary. Hope it helps a little.
      I've heard of deaths from Cocain overdoses because Strychnine was cut into it to make the Cocain seem to be better than it is because of it being a stimulant itself in small doses.

      Thank you Triker! It amazes me what people called medicine back then. I've taken to collecting the old bottles...rather fun.
