So I think I have a really cool old stove. I came across this at a yard sale. I was trying to figure out what it was but nobody knew. While I was there the sky opened up and started dumping rain. I helped the guy bring his stuff into the garage and he thanked me by giving me this mystery item. The only condition, I need to tell him what it is if I ever figure it out.
It has a slide that goes over a hole that is filled with cotton and the arm twists to open up vents. It is stamped on the bottom GEBR HEPP 90x and Western Germany. My searching tells me it may be silver but I have no idea.
It could be worthless and I doubt it is priceless, but it is cool. I even got a new buddy from the whole experience.

The mark of Gebruder Hepp, it is heavy silver plate. Since he made items for the hotel industry, I think that perhaps it is a food warmer.

Scroll down to find plated pitchers.
