Here's another one I picked up "buy it now" for $195+$9 shipping. Petretti's 12th lists it as a late 20's sign, valued in excellent condition at $1000. This one is very rough and therefore obviously nowhere near a grand, but is among my favorites. Just love it. As a new collector (primarily decorative - but an eye on value), should I attempt to remove rust from old signs like this one? I know with some antiques, patina is everything. Not sure about Old Coke Signs... Any pointers? Thanks.

Thanks. I had a good feeling about this one. After a lot of trial and error (overpaying!), I've settled into a pretty good groove. I did not expect to enjoy the project so much (decorating our finished basement walls with vintage Coca-Cola Signs). I'm infected, got the fever. Just A COUPLE more Ray! ; )

The two things I use on these are a nice Meguiars auto polish, or Semichrome polish, and rub it on with an old fashioned soft cotton diaper. Always try in a small area first to make sure the paint is stable. Semichrome also removes small scratches from celluliod items, such as pocket mirrors, as well. Although I dont collect outdoor signage, I like this sign very much. This version with the split green panels is somewhat harder to find than the one pictured in Allan's book.
