This hand carved plaque was carved in France and most likely dates from the end of the war- 1920s. There was a large demand for War souvenirs and this particular item surely met the demands of former French Soldiers.

The plaque is 14" X 18" and features many weapons. The central Artillery piece looks to be a French 75 field gun. There is also an F1 French Grenade with percussion fuse. The helmet appears to be a French Adrian Helmet.

The single medal on the left is the French Croix de Guerre (Cross of War).

The back of the board has the remnants of a French newspaper.

Thanks tom. While I have a ton of shell art in my collection, I am more interested in other media of trench art.

Be sure to look at my other postings.
