I bought this around 1982 at NASA in Houston. I always wanted a Zippo and was pleased with my purchase. Not a year later the top came off as I was using it. I just threw it in a draw and forgot about it. So, here it is. An indestructible Zippo!

I do not think they claim indestructability, they DO say that if it ever breaks they will fix it free. I have had several repaired as good as new and returned to me . Put it in a box (Zippo box if you have one) and send it to Zippo, they will repair it and return it to you at no charge..... Neat lighter.
Long time Zippo fan here. This one may have just been a dud. Please don't think that I'm being rude or anything but, if it can happen to a $30,000.00 automobile, chances are it can happen to a $30.00 lighter. Perhaps, you purchased a "lemon". Pop is correct, if you send it back to Zippo, they fix it for free. Lifetime guarantee on all Zippos. Hope this helps.
I would Love to have this Zippo...
