I am wondering if anyone knows the origin, purpose and estimated value of this great chair. It is hardwood - maple? Has an engraved rose on the back. Caning on the seat and back. It folds down. I found it at a second hand store and bought it for $12 about 15 years ago.

I have one just like it! I need my seat Repaired. It is pretty neat and why it folds up I Dont know!
I have one with flowered tapestry. I've seen a bunch of them posted as cherry or walnut, from 20's or 40's, campaign/military/nursing chairs. I also have a bench/setee that is really close in style...some one had posted that maybe the chairs (and my bench?) might have been from a mail order catalog (Sears? Montgomery Ward?).
