Being half German (Wendell is the root of Windle) I am a sucker for a German clock, thus the Hermle mantle clock. This clock is in pristine condition, its only drawback is the clock face that shows the ravages of time and the oil and acid from fingertips. Keeps perfect time and chimes on the hour and the half hour. It has a bim-bam chime.
I marvel at the clock case, not one flaw on it, shiny like a proof quarter. The metal trim work shows no tarnish and is intact. It sits atop my desk next to a bronze of Rodin's Adam. Okay, the mirror was a little kitsch.
