Stan Galli (1912-2009) was the legendary artist for United Airlines Posters of the 1950s and 1960s, as well as a painter and an illustrator.

With posters, his talents lay with capturing the Joie de Vivre of American destinations during the fabulous 50s and 60s when commercial air travel opened up to everyone, not just the elite.

In the posters for Southern California, Galli uses sunkissed blondes frolicking in LA and Palm Springs, with palm fronds casting shadows on their bodies to convey the warmth of southern California. The New York poster of the Statue of Liberty also captures Eastern sunlight perfectly.

These mid century posters are part of an archive I found recently. The posters were stored flat, and not exposed to moisture or sunlight, so their condition is mint.

Hard to find!

The losAngeles poster is one of the first posters I found at a sale now .
It was in a basement stored away for years.
