This is one of my Salish Tribe's baskets, it is a tray. It is old, probably from the 1930's or so and it is gorgeous! I got it from someone who found it at an estate sale in Canada. He told me the lady who owned it traveled extensively but he was not sure where she picked this up at. It is made of Cedar Bark and the imbrication on the basket is made of red Cherry Tree Bark. The Salish used different methods to get the Cherry Tree Bark to turn red or black.
