Got this several weeks ago at a country auction in New York state. I think I seen both planes on ebay this week separately. Missing 2 props on the upper plane, unfortunately not a great photo as the wings seem to disappear on the bottom plane in the photo.

    Nice, thanks for posting.

The top plane is a P- 38, the most commonly encountered trench art plane. I am not sure on the bottom plane.

Trench art with multiple planes is very unusual. It is a nice find.

Post some more photographs when you have a chance-- esp. the bottom plane.

Thanks Scott, I was aware of the P38 but I don't know anything else about planes at all. The bottom is a simple basic plane.

Charming. And thank you for introducing me to "Trench Art" about which I was not familiar until I looked through your Show & Tell collection. DD

Could be a p-38 Lightning but could also be a Brit. Mosquito bomber. One of my favourite stories of WWII is when the brits were sending Mosquito's to bomb the gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen. The danish resistance was asked how to identify which building since it was in the centre of the city. The reply was, "It's the only camouflaged painted roof in Copenhagen".
You r not missing but 1 prop. as both planes were twin eng.

Definitely not a Mosquito-- no "twin boom" on the Mosquito and significantly different from this trench art P- 38.

Scott, I stand corrected. Deff. the "forked tail devil".
